STUDENTS SHOULD BE PRACTICING ALL-STATE REQUIREMENTS AND (SOON TO BE
ISSUED) WINTER CONCERT MUSIC ON A REGULAR BASIS. PLAYING TESTS WILL BE
ASSIGNED SOON FOR 2ND QUARTER. CHAIR PLACEMENT AUDITIONS FOR THE SPRING
WILL BE DURING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 31st — REGION SOLOS AND SCALE SHEETS MUST BE PRINTED
OUT AND WILL BE CHECKED IN CLASS FOR A GRADE. (PERCUSSIONISTS MUST HAVE
SCALE SHEETS, RUDIMENTS AND SOLOS FOR WHATEVER THEY ARE AUDITIONING ON)
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1st — REGION BAND AUDITION REGISTRATION FORMS & ARTISTIC
PROBATION LETTERS DUE
This audition is required for Wind Ensemble members (for a grade) and optional for Symphonic
Students who are registering for All-State Jazz must notate this on their registration form and
submit an additional $12 for the extra audition registration fee.
Students who are wanting to do Master Recital and/or Honors Jazz Combo recordings will need
to notate this on their registration form and submit and additional $20 registration fee. Students
wanting to do either of these elective, additional auditions must go online to www.bandlink.org
and review audition requirements. Mrs. Smith must have your video submission by November
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd — WINTHROP UNIVERSITY WIND SYMPHONY GUEST ARTIST
PERFORMANCES DURING 1st/4th BLOCKS. WE MUST BE ON OUR BEST BEHAVIOR AND
REPRESENT OUR SCHOOL WELL!

November 12th-16th – Fall chair placement seating audition pullouts during class
December 1st – Chamber Music Performances at JICP (6:30-8:00pm) PERFORMANCE HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER.
December 7th – Winter Concert
December 10th-14th – Region Band Audition Help Sessions Afterschool (Signups will be posted
at the beginning of December)
We are kicking off the Fruit Sale Fundraiser now. This is a fundraiser for the student, what they
make on the fruit sales will go into their account towards band fees, if those are still
outstanding or toward trip costs that may be on the horizon for this school year. If the
student’s accounts are paid, then the overages from the fruit sale fundraiser will go in to the
general band fund account.
Right now, we are selling gorgeous fruit from Florida Indian River Groves, and delivery will be
in time for the holidays. Instructions for online ordering will come in a separate email via
Charms. Paper brochures and envelopes for cash/check orders are in the band room.

November 9, 2018: All fruit orders (online and envelopes) due today!!!
Early December 2018: Fruit Delivery to SOA, date TBA. We will need volunteers to help unload.
